《乔布斯传》翻译笔记：老乔的初恋
《乔布斯传》自问世以来受到了全世界人民的关注，对此沪江英语推出《乔布斯传》翻译笔记系列，让我们在翻译学习中回顾乔帮主的伟大一生。第二章 “辍学” 第一部分介绍了乔布斯的初恋女友克里斯安·布伦南（Chrisann Brennan）。布伦南是乔布斯的第一任正式女友，两人交往了很长时间，乔布斯苹果创业的时候布伦南就陪伴在他身边。布伦南为乔布斯生下了女儿Lisa，但是乔布斯很长时间内拒绝承认。布伦南小姐终身未嫁，他们之间的爱恨纠葛外人无法揣测。老乔的初恋是怎样看待他的？

“We worked together on an animated movie, then started going out, and she became my first real girlfriend,” Jobs recalled. As Brennan later said, “Steve was kind of crazy. That’s why I was attracted to him.” Jobs’s craziness was of the cultivated sort. He had begun his lifelong experiments with compulsive diets, eating only fruits and vegetables, so he was as lean and tight as a whippet. He learned to stare at people without blinking, and he perfected long silences punctuated by staccato bursts of fast talking. This odd mix of intensity and aloofness, combined with his shoulder-length hair and scraggly beard, gave him the aura of a crazed shaman. He oscillated between charismatic and creepy. “He shuffled around and looked half-mad,” recalled Brennan. “He had a lot of angst. 美國‧iPhone 4S Siri有問必答‧教機主藏屍召妓
iPhone 4S一大賣點是Siri語音個人助理，它令手機宛如真人般以語音功能與使用者互動。用家除可對著手機講話，查詢天氣、交通資訊或股價有用資訊，以及發出傳短訊、安排會議提示等指令，還可問哲學問題，Siri會給予富幽默感的答案，不少用家都讚有趣和富新鮮感。
一些玩家想盡辦法考Siri，都被它一一化解。例如有人問Siri“生命是甚麼”，Siri會答：“對別人好一點，避免吃太肥，偶爾讀本好書。”一名玩家說“我愛你”，Siri會答“噢，不要這樣”或“希望你不會對其他手機這樣說”。玩家再問：“你知道愛是甚麼嗎？”Siri說：“我從沒想過這件事。”
有玩家說：“我要藏一具屍體。”Siri會建議垃圾場、蓄水池等藏匿地點。有人向Siri說喝醉了，Siri會立即提供附近的士公司的清單；若向Siri說性慾高漲，Siri還會提供應召女郎資訊。

數十年前與喬布斯攜手創辦蘋果公司的沃茲尼亞克，也有份在三藩市附近一間蘋果專門店外排隊搶購iPhone 4S，並成功霸了頭位。像其他“蘋果迷”一樣，他買到新機後歡喜若狂，立即親吻新機，並即時啟動新機內的“Siri”語音功能，打電話告訴妻子這個好消息。沃茲尼亞克對記者說：“運作很暢順，我真的感到很開心。”

美國‧蘋果電腦創辦人喬布斯辭世
（美國6日訊）大幅黑白照片上，滿面鬍鬚的史蒂夫．喬布斯身穿標誌性的圓領套頭衫，一手托腮，圓圓鏡片後深邃的眼神裡，似乎仍藏著未盡話語，以及秘而不宣的驚天創意……
美國蘋果公司10月5日在官方網站首頁貼出喬布斯遺照，同時宣告這位傳奇人物於當天早些時候去世。照片配以喬布斯的英文姓名以及“1955－2011”字樣，表明他56歲、本應仍大有可為的年紀。
喬布斯的家人發表一份聲明說，喬布斯當天在家人陪伴下“平靜辭世”。聲明還說，喬布斯在公共場合以富有遠見而聞名，他在私人生活中“珍愛家庭”。
蘋果公司董事會聲明說：“史蒂夫的才華、激情和精力是無數創新的源泉，這些創新豐富和改善了我們所有人的生活。”

英國‧婦女10萬SMS輯成書‧12年不捨刪除
（英國）不少手機使用者都應該收過手機短訊，但相信沒有多少人會像英國女子莫伯利（Tracey Moberly）那樣費心，她12年來把所收的近10萬條手機短訊——記錄在案，為的是勿失勿忘，擁抱走過的歲月。最近她更把信息輯錄成書《給我發短訊！》（Text-Me-Up！），重溫短訊人生。
記錄婚姻破裂至名人信息
47歲藝術家莫伯利表示，12年前初次收到手機短訊時，根本不曉得那是什麼東西。“手機屏幕某一天躍現一個小信封，我問朋友那是什麼，他們就幫我開啟信息。不過我不小心把它刪掉了，心裡難過得很，發誓絕不再失掉另一則短訊”。此後每逢接到短訊，莫伯利均儲存起來；倘手機的記憶空間不足，她就謄寫存檔。結果，這幾年從手機累存下來的短訊，寫滿了逾30本日誌，2005年起更上載到電腦去。
這些字串記錄著她由婚姻破裂至重建人生，以及接到男士邀請約會；也有友儕對911襲擊、海地地震等世界大事的反應，以至名人如作家Howard Marks、塗鴉藝術大師Banksy和歌手Pete Doherty傳來的信息等。
亡父未寄短訊最深刻
然而，最叫她印象深刻的，是從亡父舊電話找到的短訊。她說：“他兩年前過身。我啟動他的電話，見到一則沒有開啟的信息只寫了‘這是爸爸’。我想，他肯定是不小心把信息傳發給自己了，但當我看到這簡單信息時百感交集，起了雞皮疙瘩。”

記錄婚姻破裂至名人信息
47歲藝術家莫伯利表示，12年前初次收到手機短訊時，根本不曉得那是什麼東西。“手機屏幕某一天躍現一個小信封，我問朋友那是什麼，他們就幫我開啟信息。不過我不小心把它刪掉了，心裡難過得很，發誓絕不再失掉另一則短訊”。此後每逢接到短訊，莫伯利均儲存起來；倘手機的記憶空間不足，她就謄寫存檔。結果，這幾年從手機累存下來的短訊，寫滿了逾30本日誌，2005年起更上載到電腦去。
這些字串記錄著她由婚姻破裂至重建人生，以及接到男士邀請約會；也有友儕對911襲擊、海地地震等世界大事的反應，以至名人如作家Howard Marks、塗鴉藝術大師Banksy和歌手Pete Doherty傳來的信息等。
亡父未寄短訊最深刻
然而，最叫她印象深刻的，是從亡父舊電話找到的短訊。她說：“他兩年前過身。我啟動他的電話，見到一則沒有開啟的信息只寫了‘這是爸爸’。我想，他肯定是不小心把信息傳發給自己了，但當我看到這簡單信息時百感交集，起了雞皮疙瘩。”

赤裸午夜鬼祟出現組屋‧“油鬼子”被擒痛打
（雪蘭莪‧八打靈再也18日訊）“油鬼子”於凌晨時分赤裸裸作出一些古怪動作，結果驚動鵝嘜兵吉蘭峇都喼花園組屋居民，上演一場居民圍堵變態男記。
這起疑似修習黑巫術的外籍男子企圖對當地居民不軌的事件，發生於昨天凌晨2時左右。
一名住在組屋底層的巫裔女居民諾麗達（42歲）聽到屋外傳來一陣陣吵雜聲後驚醒過來，當她從窗簾的縫隙往外窺探時，赫然發現一名赤裸裸的外籍男子做著古怪的動作。
喃喃自語耍武術姿勢
她見狀之下開門大喊驅趕對方，但對方卻視而不見並作出彷彿在耍武術的姿勢，同時喃喃自語，她只好叫醒丈夫。
諾麗達的丈夫較後聯同居民追捕這名逃向組屋後草叢的變態男，並在追了50公尺後將他逮捕。
當警方接獲居民投報於清晨3時30分抵達現場調查時，這名企圖騷擾組屋居民的“油鬼子”已被一些憤怒的居民毆傷。
鵝嘜警區主任阿都拉拉欣助理總監指出，初步調查顯示，嫌犯相信是附近建築工地的工人，警方正調查他為何裸身出現在有關組屋樓下。

半年不下蛋清早大聲啼‧母雞變“公雞”
（霹靂‧安順6日訊）霹靂州半港漁村的一戶人家養了6年的一隻母雞，竟然慢慢地“變性”，變得好似雄赳赳的大公雞！
這隻母雞原本不斷生蛋，但在半年前停止下蛋，不僅這樣，母雞的雞冠竟越來越大及紅，且在大清早大聲“喔喔”啼。
母雞的主人王惠洲向星洲日報說，6年前他的母親在家養了六七隻母雞，以便母雞生蛋供家人享用。
他說，約在半年前便不見這隻母雞下蛋，開始時聽到牠小聲“喔喔”啼，慢慢地竟每天清晨大聲“喔喔”啼，更愛找母雞玩。
王惠洲的母親因聽朋友說母雞會啼是不好徵兆，於是將這隻已“變性”的老母雞放到附近叢林。
“我覺得蠻可惜的，畢竟這隻雞已飼養了多年。”
據瞭解，母雞變“公雞”事件，可能是因母雞體內的雄性激素分泌過多，超越體內的雌性激素，所以母雞便慢慢變成“公雞”。
獸醫：或雄激素分泌過高
母雞不會變公雞
針對此事，獸醫方成忠說，有關母雞的確很可能是雄激素分泌過高，但不管牠還下不下蛋，始終還是母雞，不是變成公雞。
他告訴星洲日報說，的確有母雞停止下蛋一段時間後，又恢復生蛋的事。
他說，只要王惠洲的雞曾下蛋，證明有關雞是母雞，就算後來不下蛋了，還“喔喔”啼，也沒有可能變成公雞。

Happy birthday Facebook! And now new-born Twitter and CIMB Clicks
Happy 3rd birthday to you, my beloved Facebook.
I remembered 08/08/2008 I created my Facebook account in IRC UTP . I still remembered which computer I used. That time was my noob 1st foundation year coming into UTP, and it was Beijing Olympic 2008, and that was the day I purposely created my Facebook account because it can be easily remembered. It made me now recalled how the fat Sport Science lecturer talking about Beijing Olympic everyday in Saturday classes. I cannot go back home because of his classes. And it recalled to me how we were in v6 last time. V6 was great after all.
I remembered few years ago when I scolded my brother who spent his summer holidays here playing Facebook. He claimed that his Australian friends were more into this. It was like in the year 2006 or 2007 where Friendster was a hit among teenagers. Not Facebook. Now Friendster gone somewhere missing on earth and Facebook is now the best social networking site.
And now Twitter. Another social networking site I chose to register today. Tweet tweet, start tweeting today, and follow me at KunShum (@KunShum), I will love Twitter community very much. Haha I hope I can start enjoying tweeting everywhere too.
And lastly was the CIMB Clicks. Finally I got it done and activated. Just a very simple procedure. Thought I can got it done in CIMB KL Sentral during lunch hour when bringing Suhana to meet Ah Wen. Manatau need ATM Card and I actually did not bring out. What a joke. So was helping out Ah Wen and Suhana in their Childpro's debiting and crediting. Never actually see people cashing out such a big lump sum amount of money and then bank it again to respective accounts. Kinda cool.
Hmm today's lunch was settled in Kenny Rogers KL Sentral too. The lunch set was somehow too expensive. RM17.00. But it was delicious especially the chicken. Asked Ah Wen. Haha he really likes rice, he sacrificed one of the sub orders for another rice while I tried salad, baked beans and not forgetting the 2 muffins for each of us.
So when I got home, I rushed to the nearest CIMB branch and settled the CIMB Clicks. When I back home again, I signed up online using the e-Pin generated. Argh manatau the phone number I entered just now at ATM machine was wrong. So I quickly called the Clicks Support. Twice, no people answering. And the third time was actually at 10.15 pm finally got people pick up. A very polite guy.
So I rushed back to the branch again with my ATM card and changed the number. I was at the process of buying air tickets for friends!
So after all, find that Apple Safari may not be as good as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox in doing formal works, but no doubt I like Apple Safari because it is stylish and cool. CIMB Clicks has proven its 'absolute secureness' with Apple Safari because Apple Safari made the 'Submit' button function-less. LOL And when it worked again, CIMB Clicks requested the user (me) to log in after 5 minutes. What a great system huh. So I want to encourage all of you to use CIMB Clicks. It is safe, simple, and fast. Greater than Maybank2u which has more frauds. I even want to learn completely how to use CIMB Clicks and compare with my brother's Maybank2u. Try to persuade him to switch xD
So at very long long last, I finally managed to buy the tickets. Just don't know why the amount shown in itinerary was Indonesia Rupiah instead of Malaysian Ringgit. Great 1st Internet banking experience!

Captain America: The First Avenger
Another Marvel superhero. Again demonstrated American egoism.
The story background I very like. Nazi Germany: War, war and war. I simply love war movies. Because war denotes many things: Love, friendship, cruelty, mercy ....
Like Spiderman, Captain America's funny costume is of America flag colours, blue and red. But what made me notice dao this Captain America is not his costume, but his shield. Many times when fighting the shield plays very important role, haha. Captain America throws his shield, then shield flies back to him la, all this, and the shield can even reflect the blue so-called God's power, the power that can make people disappear in one second without any dusts left. LOL
And this very antagonist: I feel very funny. The red colour looks like Hellboy and the skull shape like Ghost Rider.
Anyway, it is a good movie. I had actually enjoyed the movie very much. Walking into cinema again with a couple of best friends after so long not visiting it is always great =) The second avenger is coming up, stay tuned! I want to watch with all of you.

Delicious @ Marc Residence, Jalan Penang
We were here to celebrate the winning of AsiaMoney! Just next to KLCC.
We went there late so not much food left. They d refilled the food many times so when we arrived they wont refill again liao T.T
Overall, the food is just so-so. Because I am hungry I ate dao alot also. Chicken, rice, spaghetti, mushroom soup and salads.
The spaghetti initially I thought was beef-cooked. But when I find out it is actually chicken, not much left jor, so I managed to take dao abit lai taste only. Nonetheless, it tasted better than the rice.
Even though the web review said dao this restaurant very bad, but actually there is also some goods de. Like the desserts they made, chocolate, strawberry and one more I don't know what lai de. Taste better than their main course food.
They booked the whole place just for this private event. At end of this makan-makan was just photograph session.
Many of them will have their last day tomorrow. I just want to wish them a very good luck in all of their future undertakings =)

Marché Restaurant @ The Curve, Damansara
Today we came to this place for lunch!
I was disappointed because the fellow told me no camera allowed inside. But still able to take some.
You lost this order card, you will be fined rm200. Next time I order food > rm200 then I purposely lost it xD
Too many variety of food there and I actually did not know which one to try. So I ordered pasta because I like to eat pasta. Just see how nice they could make the pasta taste like.
The quantity was small, but was enough to fill my stomach. Because I put alot of cheese. This chicken pasta was very very delicious after all. Like it very much.
But the potatoes and salmon rosti were the best!!
I don't know what magic they put on the potatoes. Countless potatoes have been digested by my stomach, or should I say all this while I was just eating chips, but this 1 that I have tried were very different from ordinary chips. They must have prepared the potatoes in just a very simple way though I don't know how they did that.
The smell of these potatoes were ... (I couldn't think of any better adjective other than ...). The moment you put into mouth, woah ...
And the salmon rosti is definitely another must-try food here. I also don't know how they wrapped the salmon with some mian fen, or bread, which made it very very .... The salmon was definitely fresh, but I could not remember what other ingredients they served together with the salmon, I just know those ingredients highlighted the originality of salmon.

Rahayu just got back from Jakarta and Bandung.
She bought something for us to eat too. Some kind of cake. And she shared her joyful experience with me because I told her I will be going to Indonesia at the end of the year.
I knew she wanted to spend more days there. Because she claimed rm4000 was not enough for her to do shopping! Woah. She said Bandung is a shopping and food paradise, now with Trans Studio, like Disneyland or some kinda theme park and Rumah Mega if I m not mistaken with the name.

Jakarta is no different from Kuala Lumpur, and she said we can go to experience night life in Indonesia by going ..... clubbing?! I was shocked. Really? Indonesians cant even watch Hollywood's blockbuster movies and they are quite certain in Islam. Can they tolerate clubbing? I don't know, gonna figure it out myself.
And Bangkok. according to her, is also a night that will never sleep. I mean don't compare with New York or Tokyo. Because Bangkok has a lot of clubs, and she said what people also got in there. Hot ladies with shirts without shirts, ah kuas, whatsoever... And she actually encouraged me to go see, to experience the world wor. Haha
And the most funny part was when she described Hatyai to me. I never know Hatyai is a prostitution city until she told me. But I wan quan feel bu dao. Bavaani keep laughing there. I don't know why. I just know it is also a shopping and food paradise.
But whatever it is, I am going to Indonesia this end of the year to experience it myself. It is going to be a great 1 I know, hope we can really enjoy dao =)

Internship Orientation Programme
I forgot this thing before coming to work.
And they even have future Chemical engineers and Psychologists being the interns here. So what's more of Petroleum Engineers, Kong Fook Ann and Hing Chai Shing, welcome, welcome xD
When I woke up at 6, I felt like I wan to drive to work this whole week after taking train and bus for the past 2 weeks continuously. And Thursday will be the 1st supervisor visit, so I might stay late in office too for the logbook, got car can drive back anytime I like, so I jiu sleep back and wake up at 7.
The feeling of driving after so long of not driving was weird. The car, which my younger brother used to knock another car's bumper down few days ago just did not feel right to me in whichever ways. Haha. But of course still in good condition, but the victim's car bumper was being knocked down, but my car, physically, still look extremely healthy at the front part.
So that was it. The internship orientation programme, Saw few familiar faces. We had lunch together in the lame level 4 cafe.
Haha. I was thinking why the orientation was held now by right should done earlier like the 1st or 2nd week when all the interns all here. Now some d left lor T.T
But overall, the orientation was remarkable. The sharing was fruitful. At least they provide some insights on banking industry. And of course cleared our doubts of starting salary all those. Hmm youngsters nowadays are more concern of that huh xD I can say it will be a lucrative one for fresh graduates, not mentioning other benefits, allowances and great experiences they said.
